Comprising the counties of The City and County of Bristol, Somerset, Devon in the South West of England are some of the country's most scenic and desirable areas to live. It is the largest region of England in terms of area and is rich in cultural, sporting, entertainment, architectural and historic attractions as well as ever improving shopping facilities.
The South West boosts thriving business communities with a large number of national and international businesses being based within the region. Transportation links throughout the area are improving all the time. Three major roads enter the region from the east. The M4 motorway from London to South Wales via Bristol is the busiest. The A303 cuts through the centre of the region from Salisbury to Honiton, where it merges with the A30 to continue past Exeter to the west of Cornwall. The A31, an extension of the M27, serves Poole and Bournemouth and the Dorset coast. The M5 runs from the West Midlands through Gloucestershire, Bristol and Somerset to Exeter. The A38 serves as a western extension to Plymouth. There are three other small motorways in the region, all in the Bristol area.
The region is served by an excellent rail network covering the entire region. All major networks supply links to the region, and the mainline stations of Paddington and Waterloo both offer direct services from London. Rail links from the North of England and the Midlands provide excellent high speed services passing through Birmingham New Street.
International Ferry services from the region?s coast link the region to France, Belgium and Spain.
The south west has a wide range of domestic and European air services from its main airports at Bristol, Exeter, Plymouth and Newquay.
The climate in the area is renowned for offering some of the most temperate weather in the United Kingdom, this in turn sees the area becoming ever more popular with seasonal visitors to the area.
